MOMBASA — Junior golfers at the Coast are set for a busy competitive season with the return of the NCBA Mombasa Local Fall Tour, a series designed to give young players more opportunities to compete, gain experience and build confidence.
The tour will get underway at Vipingo Ridge before moving to Nyali Golf and Country Club and Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, giving participants the chance to test themselves on different courses and in varying tournament conditions.
The series will culminate in a Tour Championship, providing a fitting finale to a season in which the young golfers will have had several opportunities to measure their progress against their peers.
The organisers say the focus is not only on developing technical golfing ability but also on helping young players develop the confidence and competitive experience required to progress in the sport.
“Helping our young golfers develop both their skills and their confidence is at the heart of the programme. We look forward to seeing the players grow from the opening event at Vipingo Ridge through to the Tour Championship,” the organisers said.
The return of the Mombasa tour adds another layer to an increasingly active junior golf calendar at the Coast. Regular competition is regarded as an important part of developing young golfers, giving them an opportunity to learn how to manage different courses, deal with competitive pressure and build experience over time.
The tour is supported by NCBA, whose involvement continues the growing role of corporate partnerships in creating opportunities for young athletes and supporting the development of sport in Kenya.
For junior golfers at the Coast, the events also provide an opportunity to compete in a structured series without having to travel far from the region.
The programme is being delivered within the broader junior golf development framework of the Junior Golf Foundation, a joint initiative of the Kenya Golf Union and Kenya Ladies Golf Union responsible for promoting the growth of golf among players aged 21 and below.
With the Coast providing a strong base of golf clubs and junior players, the organisers hope the series will help identify and nurture more young talent while giving existing players a clearer competitive pathway.
For the participants, however, the immediate task will be on the course — starting at Vipingo Ridge and building towards the Tour Championship.
The objective is simple: more competition, more experience and more opportunities for the next generation of Kenyan golfers to grow.
