Road to Somabay Returns: Every Swing Counts, Every Shot Matters

Le Club Golf and MichezoNet have officially launched the second edition of the Road to Somabay Amateur Golf World Cup, a nationwide golf series aimed at identifying and nurturing Kenya’s top amateur talent.

Following a successful opening leg at Limuru Country Club, the 2026 edition promises an expanded and highly competitive circuit, featuring 12 additional qualifiers across the country.

Nationwide Journey Begins

The journey now heads to Machakos Golf Club on 11th April, before proceeding to Ruiru Sports Club and Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in May.

Other confirmed venues on the circuit include:

1. Vet Lab Sports Club
2. Sigona Golf Club
3. Royal Nairobi Golf Club
4. Muthaiga Golf Club
5. Karen Country Club
6. Mombasa Golf Club
7. Eldoret Golf Club
8. Kericho Golf Club

This nationwide spread ensures inclusivity and competitiveness across Kenya’s golfing regions.

Pathway to the Grand Finale

From each qualifier, two players will earn qualification to the grand finale, scheduled for September 2026.

At the finale, the country’s top amateurs will compete for national honors, with the ultimate prize being selection to represent Kenya internationally.

Two outstanding players will earn the opportunity to represent Kenya at the Somabay World Cup Amateur Golf Tournament in Egypt this October.

The opening leg at Limuru Country Club set the tone for the series, with standout performances from:

2. Patrick Ngaruiya
3. Joseph Ilanya
4. Bmwote Onyancha

These players have already secured their spots in the grand finale and will be strong contenders as the competition progresses.
